I was recently awarded Best in the East at the Biennial Juried Member Exhibition of Craft Ontario. It was a huge honour as the exhibition was a survey of all craft disciplines, and the three jurors were all highly respected members of the craft field in Canada. It was a true milestone for me. My new work(although often neon!) is relatively austere in form and subtle in message. I don’t expect to always get “yes’s”, but this one came at a perfect moment – as I reach a new decade in life, a new advancement as an instructor, and generally more confident, more at peace.
